When I was a student in Victoria Junior College, I tutored Mathematics, Science and English to primary school students from Telok Kurau Primary School on a weekly basis. I will also be teaching Mathematics and Chemistry at Bendemeer Secondary School from 11 January 2021.
I impart academic content to my students through the use of textbooks, notes and powerpoint slides that I have prepared prior to my lessons. These will then be followed up with practice questions from assessment books or other schools’ exam questions so that I can objectively access how much knowledge my students have gained during my lesson.
I also believe in imparting essential skills such as the thinking processes of approaching different question types as I feel that more often than not, the first step is usually the hardest. But once that step is taken, the rest then becomes clockwork.
I am also kept up to date of MOE’s current syllabus and am able to teach my students well in advance so that they will be ahead of their peers. This will allow them to have a better understanding of what is going on in class when they learn it again, thus enhancing their learning and retention of information.
In all, I am a patient and an empathetic person who finds it easy to connect with the people around me. I constantly encourage my students to do their best and not give up as I genuinely believe in unlocking their potential.
