I am a 7 years full time graduate tutor specializing in teaching Primary levels English, Math and Science and Lower secondary Maths. I went into full time tutoring right after my graduation from Nanyang Technological University. Prior to being a full time tutor, I gave part-timetuition for primary school students during the span of my university years. I also did 2 years of volunteer work as a student mentor for upper primary students at Rotary Family Service Centre.
Under my tutelage, my students have seen improvements in their grades – from fail to C to Bs and A*. I have had experiences in teaching AEIS students, who passed their AEIS test but is on borderline results when they first entered school. Subsequently, their grades improved drastically to B to A and then A*. I also have experiences in teaching students with dyslexia, who saw their failing grades improve to C and B grades. I have had PSLE students who failed their subjects at first but subsequently improve to a Normal Academic aggregate. Most of my PSLE students score As and Bs for the subjects i taught them. Other students see improvements in their results; with some students emerging within the top fews of their class.
Aside from academic improvements, i have also been able to stir up their genuine interest for the subjects by using practical examples, visual aids, stories or by simply having them gain confidence in their own work after building their foundation knowledge of the subjects.
I am extremely motivated and will devote maximum energy to teaching my students to the highest possible standards. Above all, I am passionate about teaching young children because I strongly believe that what students learn in their formative years can shape how they are in the future. And this is what appeals to me in teaching; I find meaning in molding and impacting someone’s life for the better. And that this inspiration will pass on from one to another.
